Places of Interest in and around Pahrump are listed for you here.  Although Pahrump is a relatively small community, there are lots of activities and lots of things to do and see.

All of these facilities are located within a stones throw of one another at the corner of 160 and Basin Ave. Here you will find a full rodeo arena which sees quite a bit of activity.  A variety of events are held here each season.  The park contains softball diamonds which heat up with league action and a playground with newly installed equipment for the kids.  The Pahrump Town Office handles the events for all of these places.  They are each available for private use by making arrangements with the Town Office 727-5107.


Honeysuckle Park & Skate Park

Located between Pahrump Valley Blvd. and Dandelion on Honeysuckle, this location offers a variety of activity. Here you will find Soccer fields, Little League Diamonds, Baseball fields, an open pavilion, play equipment, snack stand for events and a newly completed skate park.  The fields are well kept and the park is lined by fabulous trees.  Pahrump Little League and AYSO Soccer are just of the few organizations that utilize this well planned park.


Pahrump Valley Speedway

Calling all racing fans!  Come and visit one of the few remaining dirt racing tracks in the country.  Here you can cheer on drivers in a variety of classes including dwarfs, street stock, I.M.C.A. modifieds and kids go-cart races.  For schedule and information contact the speedway at (775) 727-7172

Spring Mountain National Recreation Area, Carpenter Canyon, Trout Canyon and Wheeler Pass

Rhyolite

Located 120 miles North of Las Vegas, this town was originated when gold was discovered.  The town prospered for awhile and was comprised of 45 saloons, an opera house, a telephone company, several hotels, a bank and a variety of other businesses.  Rhyolite is now famous as one of the best ghost towns to visit.

Goldfield

Founded due to both gold and silver finds in 1902, one can still visit some of the most interesting of historical buildings including the four story Goldfield hotel (1908), the brick Goldfield High School, Santa Fe Saloon, the grand Esmeralda County Courthouse and the former telephone, telegraph building.  Located 180 miles North of Las Vegas off of Highway 95.  Call (775) 485-6365 for information.

China Ranch Date Farm

Located in Tecopa, California and only 45 min from Pahrump, this is truly an oasis in the desert.  Not only interesting because of the date farming and the availability of such delights as packaged dates, date shakes, date-nut bread jam and jellies, China Ranch is also rich in history.  You'll learn about geology, botany, birds, early man in the area, the old Spanish trail and other fascinating tid bits.  For information call (760) 852-4415. 

Mt. Charleston

Three state highways, State Route 156, State Route 157 and State Route 158, link US 95 with the majestic 11,918 foot Mt. Charleston.  As you gain elevation, you will see the change in vegetation, from sagebrush to towering pines.  Wildlife includes wild horses, Golden eagle, owls, deer, fox, hawks and desert tortoise. Huge choices of recreational opportunities await.  There is a ski area with more than 12 runs and an up to 12 foot snow pack. The temperatures in Summer is at least 20 degrees cooler 
than in Las Vegas. The cooler temperatures attract hikers, campers and picnickers.

Red Rock Canyon

Located close to Las Vegas off of Hwy 160 lays the 83,100 acre Red Rock national Conservation Area.  The start of your tour should start at the Red Rock Visitors Center. The center is operated by that Bureau of Land management. Inside are wonderful displays explaining the Geology, history, plant and animal life, archeology and recreational opportunities regarding the area.


The Las Vegas Strip

Located 63 miles from Pahrump is the world famous Las Vegas Strip.  Every few hundred feet there is a dramatic change in scenery. The giant Egyptian pyramid is next to a medieval castle. Next you will see the Statue of Liberty and the skyline of New York. Further still is the Roman temple followed by a fiery volcano and a Caribbean lagoon in which two sailing ships are engaged in a fierce battle.  Everything is larger, brighter, louder, faster and more visually powering than any place you have ever been before.
